Medium difficulty

A setting of one of the most famous passages from the Song of Solomon. The piece opens with a gentle melody sung by the treble, which is echoed by the whole choir. The central section, which states “many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it”, iterates the text followed by a massive build-up of sound. It is followed again by the confident but tender request to be set as a seal on the arm and heart.

Text (Song of Solomon 8:6-7, KJV)

Set me as a seal, as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm, for love is strong as death. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it.

-to God alone all glory is given-
